Debanik Basu

Debanik Basu

Debanik currently leads APG’s sustainability efforts in key emerging markets, including India, ASEAN and Latin America. Prior to this, he was heading the research function at ISS India and was responsible for delivering governance solutions and advisory services to institutional clients. Based in Hong Kong, Debanik has more than 13 years of experience in the ESG landscape and has dealt extensively with corporate boards, investors and regulators on matters of risk management, stakeholder engagement, and stewardship.

From 2009 to 2012, Debanik worked for the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) where he conducted due diligence of M&A deals and corporate restructurings for Indian companies and developed proposals for a broad range of policy matters. Debanik has also published various thought leadership pieces on critical governance trends that have appeared in leading newspapers and business journals.
Debanik holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Indian Institute of Management, Indore.

Willem-Jan Hoogland

Willem-Jan Hoogland

Willem is the founder and partner of HKWJ Tax Law & Partners Limited (“HKWJ”) and Triple Eight Limited (‘TRIPLE’). HKWJ provides Hong Kong (“HK”), Mainland China and international tax advisory services for corporate and individual clients. TRIPLE thereinafter is focussed on corporate services.

Willem has about 30 years practical experience in tax planning and trust related work. He is specialised in offering advice on various tax issues, e.g. tax efficient shareholding structures, application of double tax treaties, identification of tax risks, transfer pricing, (automatic) exchange of information and HK offshore non-taxable claim. Further, he has experience with resolving tax disputes between tax authorities and clients.

Willem studied fiscal law at the University of Groningen in Holland. He also obtained LL.M tax law degrees from the University of London in the UK & the Queens University in Canada, a LL.B degree from the Manchester Metropolitan University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of HK. He became a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong and is currently a Consultant for the law firm Haldanes.

Willem is the current Chair of the International Fiscal Association (“IFA”) branch in HK and the current Chair of the Dutch Tax Committee of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in HK. He recently chaired at the IFA a session on Tax & ESG. Further, he is an active member of the Taxation Institute of HK and the HK General Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee. Willem is also the current Chair of the Dutch Society of HK.

Raymond Kwee

Raymond Kwee

Born in the Netherlands, Raymond is of Chinese-Indonesian descent. He holds a university degree in Economics from VU University in Amsterdam. After his graduation, Raymond
joined ING in 1996 and held various positions in Finance and Front Office since. Currently, he is the Chief Administrative Officer for Hong Kong. In his current role, Raymond is responsible for Finance, Operations, IT and Facility Management

Furthermore, he was the treasurer of the Nederlandse Vereniging in Hong Kong from 2012 until 2015.

Maaike Steinebach

Maaike Steinebach

Maaike has 20+ years of senior working experience in financial services and tech Most recently as General Manager Visa Hong Kong and Macau. Formerly she was CEO of Commonwealth Bank of Australia and ABN AMRO in Hong Kong and China.

She has always been passionate about female empowerment and tech - she is a founding board member of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong and Women in Tech.

Recently she started her entrepreneurial journey and founded FemTechFuture Limited - a boutique consultancy focussed on thought leadership, advisory and impact investment in women’s sexual, financial, physical and mental well being democratised through technology.

She is also an active investor in Femtech and Sextech companies and recently spoke at SXSW about the Future of Sex.
